Biela voda – Zelene pleso PDF Print E-mail
Difficult: high
Suitable for: mountain bikes (MTB)
Track lenght: 8 km
Time: 2 hours – 2 hours 30 min

Absolutly hardest bicycle track in High Tatras. Only the best bikers can pass it without occasion of pushing bicycle in some parts. Outstanding scenery of High and Belaer's Tatras – one from the most beautiful places in Tatras.

Biela voda is the name of bus station near the village Kezmarske Zlaby and also the name of creek which is flows close to the cycle track. The surface of track till Salviovy pramen is good. There are rigid small stones and clay. There from is it hard – only big rocks, mostly unstable. Last part is sand-rock surface, obvious wet.
Track is beggining at the bus station. The surface is beaten. The highest gradient is at the point where is track puting near the creek. After that is a place for lay off.

In 15 minutes we are crossing a wooden bridge over the creek and in next 5 minutes we will reach Salviovy pramen.

The track is feeding through the dry creek basin. The surface is much difficult like previous. On the grount are laying big rock and gradient is high. In few minutes we moving around the guidepost and hiking track from Mala Svistovka.

For a while will be the surface better. There from are serpentines in 800 meters. This is the hardest part of track. It's a good surface to know what we can and what can't do. Don't forgot that we will go back!

The last part of track is much easier, the surface is sand-rock, gradient low. Sometimes is flowing here a water (up to 5 cm).

Chalet Zelene plesoLook for the branch about 200m before the chalet. This is direct track to chalet. Main track is ending at tarn and there fom you must carry your bike through the stairs to the chalet. The chalet is known like "Chata pri Zelenom plese" (or "Brncalova chata").

Downhill run is very hard. The most important are quality brakes, bicycle skill and physical level. The track is thin and in some part are abysses – so take a care! Priority have hikers not bikers! Downhill run from Salviovy pramen is an adventure. You can reach the speed up to 80 km per hour. Do you remember on the highest gradient? Yes, there you can reach it.

Recommendation:
  • if you feel that the track is too hard for you – go back and try it once again
  • if the tire-tread pattern is not good – go back and change it
  • do you have a sheltered screen? Riding on the surface with big rocks gives a great probability of destroy it
  • Test your brakes before the ride
  • don't forgot you helmet!
  • in the forrest are living animals like roes and bears
