 Sliezky dom (Sliezky place) is the greatest mountain hotel in High Tatras. It's located near Velicke pleso in 1670m asl. You can reach it with three routes: from Tatra Magistrala (marked red), from Stary Smokovec (yellow) or Tatranska Polianka (green).
Route, which is starting in Tatranska Polianka (1005m asl.) is steeply but shortly. It's not suitable for small childrens although this is asphalt route. The green mark it is not the same like the asphalt route, it's a little bit shorter and it's going also thhough the forest. It's only up to you what you like.
Walk around the medical institution and leave the village. This is a switchback type of road. After one hour of walking you will stand on the Velicky most (Velicky bridge). Finally choose which kind of route you will like – an asphalt with few beautiful views or silently forest one.
At the end should be easier. Sliezky dom is a starting point of many hiking routes: route on the highest Slovak peak, Gerlachovsky stit (2654,6m asl), Polský hreben (2199,6m asl) or Vychodna Vysoka (2428,6m asl).
The route back should be not the same one, you could continue and finish it in Popradske pleso, Hrebienok or Stary Smokovec.
